Shadowrocket Not Showing in the China Mainland App Store: Apple ID Region and App Availability

App availability depends on your Apple ID’s App Store region. Learn how to check the account used for purchases and understand how store region, past purchases, and payment methods are related.

At a glance

If Shadowrocket doesn’t appear in the China mainland App Store, first check the account used for Media & Purchases and its Country/Region. Then distinguish between no search results, an unavailable product page, and a payment failure. This guide is for people who haven’t purchased the app yet or want to restore a purchase. Follow the steps below to identify whether the issue is with the store region, purchase history, or payment—without changing settings in the app.

First, distinguish your store region from your device region

App Store availability depends on the store associated with your account. Your device’s location, language, and network route do not, by themselves, indicate which store your account uses. If Shadowrocket doesn’t appear in the China mainland store, check the account’s Country/Region instead of repeatedly changing search terms or network routes.

On newer systems, Apple ID is called Apple Account. The account shown at the top of your device may differ from the one used for Media & Purchases, so checking only the name at the top of Settings isn’t enough. To identify your store region, check the account actually used for purchases and its region information.

Where to check: start with Media & Purchases

The steps below use the English interface labels on iPhone and iPad. Layouts and menu names may vary slightly by system version, and you may be asked to authenticate. These steps are for checking information only—you don’t need to submit a region change just to troubleshoot search results.

  1. Open Settings

Open Settings and tap the Apple Account associated with your name at the top. If you’re not signed in, first confirm that you plan to use your own account, then check the store details.

  2. Check the store account

Go to Media & Purchases and check the account currently used for media and purchases. Don’t assume it’s the same account used for other services on your device.

  3. Check the region

Tap View Account, authenticate if prompted, then open Country/Region. Note the country or region shown. Don’t proceed to Change Country or Region yet.

  4. Return to the store and check

Go back to the App Store and search for the full English name, Shadowrocket. If it still doesn’t appear, visit this site’s app verification page and use its product link to check the information returned by the store.

If the Country/Region isn’t what you expected, first check whether Media & Purchases is using the account you intended. Checking the region confirms the current setting; changing it can affect billing and existing purchases. These are separate steps. You don’t need to sign out of the Apple Account for your entire device while troubleshooting, and you should never share your password or verification code.

Diagnose the issue: search, product page, and payment are separate steps

“No search results” doesn’t necessarily mean “payment failed,” nor does it mean “the app isn’t compatible with this device.” Note the exact message and classify the issue using the table below. A product page shown in a browser for another region doesn’t mean the account currently signed in can buy the app there. Check the status in the App Store on your device.

What you see What to check first What to do next
No matching search results Confirm the name is Shadowrocket and check whether Country/Region is as expected Use the product link on the verification page; don’t rely on search ranking alone
The product page says it isn’t available in your region The store associated with your account and the region message shown on the product page Stop retrying the purchase and first confirm whether the app is available in that store
The product page is visible, but the purchase won’t go through Payment method, billing details, outstanding account balance, and purchase restrictions Follow the payment prompt; don’t treat a payment issue as a search issue
A message says the device isn’t compatible The compatibility section on the product page and your device’s system version Refer to the App Store page for system requirements, device compatibility, and purchase availability
No App Store pages will load Network connectivity, account verification status, and system restrictions Restore normal App Store loading first, then check whether this specific app is available

In short: note the message and address the relevant step

If there are no search results, check the account region and the product page link. If you’ve reached the payment step, check your billing details instead. Don’t repeatedly change regions in place of checking the error message.

Verify the app: check the developer and app ID, not just the name

Shadowrocket is a paid client for Apple platforms, primarily used on iPhone and iPad. The App Store is the only place to get it. The app name and a similar-looking icon aren’t enough to verify the product; check the developer, official icon, and app ID together. The product link on this site’s verification page uses ID 932747118. The region code in the URL is not your account’s store region and does not switch stores for you.

For Mac, Apple TV, Apple Vision, and other devices, check the compatibility section on the same product page. Refer to the App Store page for system requirements, device compatibility, and purchase availability. Check search visibility, purchase availability, and compatibility with your current device separately.

Before changing regions: check your balance, subscriptions, and payment details

Changing Country/Region is an account-management action, not a simple search setting. Apple may require you to use up your account balance, wait for certain subscriptions to expire, complete pending transactions, or resolve Family Sharing arrangements. Follow the prompts on your account page for the requirements that apply. Don’t submit repeated region changes just to make search results appear before you understand the prompts.

Your payment method and billing address must meet the requirements of the new region’s store. A payment method that works in your current region may not work in another, and product availability can vary by region. Even after changing regions, check the current product page again; a region change doesn’t guarantee that all past purchases will remain available to download.

Purchased but can’t find it? Check the original purchase account

Having paid for the app before doesn’t mean the current Media & Purchases account owns that purchase. First identify the account associated with the original purchase, then check which account is currently signed in. An app installed on a device and a purchase recorded in an account are separate facts; a Home Screen icon alone doesn’t prove which account owns the purchase.

  1. Open the App Store, tap your profile picture, then check Apps or Purchased. Menu names may differ by system version.
  2. Look for Shadowrocket in the app list for the relevant account, and check whether the purchase is hidden.
  3. If needed, go to Settings → your name → Media & Purchases → View Account → Purchase History and check the transaction.
  4. If you see a price instead of a redownload option, confirm the account and purchase history before paying again.

The purchased list doesn’t guarantee that an app will remain visible in every region, and a transaction record alone doesn’t guarantee that the current store still offers it for redownload. Regional availability, purchase ownership, and hidden purchases can all affect your search. Keep the app installed while troubleshooting, and confirm whether it can be redownloaded before considering deletion. Deleting the app may also affect data and configuration stored on your device.

In-app settings: Global Routing does not change your store region

If Shadowrocket is already installed, Global Routing on Home determines how traffic is handled when connected. It does not change your Apple Account’s Country/Region. The three modes below are included only to distinguish network troubleshooting from store account management; they don’t mean that users without the app need to configure it first.

Config

Recommended

Selects a policy based on the rules in your current configuration; traffic handling depends on rule order and policy content. If your existing configuration is working, leave it unchanged while checking the store account to avoid introducing another network variable.

Best for: checking your store account while keeping an existing working rule configuration

Direct

Uses a direct connection. You can compare page loading when your current network can access the App Store directly. This does not switch your account to the store for your device’s location.

Best for: comparing page loading over your current proxy route with your regular network

Proxy

Uses a proxy policy to check network behavior along your existing proxy route. Even if your network exit changes, you still need to check your account’s store region under Country/Region.

Best for: checking whether your network route affects page loading when you already have a working connection

Settings → On Demand can trigger a connection based on conditions; it is not a store region setting either. If other product pages load normally in the App Store but Shadowrocket is marked unavailable in your region, check your account and product availability instead of continuing to change Config, rules, or On Demand.

Final check: handle search and purchase issues separately

After completing these checks, you should be able to identify the Media & Purchases account, its Country/Region, the message shown on the product page, and whether there’s an original purchase record. These four details are more useful than simply saying, “It still doesn’t show up after I changed networks.” If you contact Apple Support, provide the exact message and relevant transaction details, but never send your password, verification code, or complete payment information.
